Hello Ms. Duong: Actually in 2001, California had two (2) Asian Americans in Congress: Mike Honda (D-San Jose) as you previously referenced as well as the late Robert T. Matsui (D-Sacramento).

As I briefly mentioned in my presentation to the Citizens Redistricting Commission the other day in Sacramento, when Assembly Members Floyd Mori (D-Pleasanton) & Paul Bannai (R-Gardena) were defeated in November'80, there were no Asian Americans in The California State Legislature until the election of the late Assembly Member Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard) in November'92.

After roughly 720 separate legislative campaigns over a 12 year period were Asian Americans able to successfully gain representation.

Most importantly however, during the '81 & '91 reapportionment cycles, there were no Asian Americans at the table when the lines were being drawn by The Legislature, much to the determent of our communities.

I sincerely appreciate your focus on this extremely important issue. Thanks!!!

This polemic about the death penalty is downright upright. And another polemic is that many of those put to death have turned out to be innocent due to DNA testing.
